Northwest University opens with comeback win | College women’s basketball

Northwest University overcame an eight point halftime deficit to defeat the College of Idaho in the opening night of Cascade Conference play in the J.A. Albertson Center Friday.

Northwest University overcame an eight point halftime deficit to defeat the College of Idaho in the opening night of Cascade Conference play in the J.A. Albertson Center Friday. The Eagles outscored C of I 42-29 in the second half which included a 26-2 run to start the period to post their first CCC win and improve to 6-2 overall for the season.

Chanara Greene had a big game for Northwest University (6-2, 1-0 CCC) with 18 points and 17 rebounds. Junior Jordan Asher and freshman Hannah Carslon each scored 15 points for NU while Asher added nine rebounds and Carlson completed the double-double with 10 rebounds. Freshman Charmaine Bradford handed out six assists to lead the team. NU outrebounded C of I 49-39 including 18 offensive boards.

The College of Idaho (1-9, 0-1 CCC) was led by Elisha Hensey’s 17 points and 10 rebounds followed by Haylee Burnham’s 16 points. Aleah Lowber added 11 points and 8 rebounds for the Yotes who shot 35 percent for the game.

NU continues conference play tomorrow night in La Grande as they take on Eastern Oregon at 5:30 p.m.
