The Northwest University men’s basketball team continued its winning ways Friday in posting its ninth straight win without a loss by defeating Portland Bible College, 95-64, this afternoon in a non-league game.

The Eagles hit 53 per cent of their shots, 42 percent from beyond the three-point line for the game. NU led 55-32 at the half.

Junior Justice Martion led Northwest U (9-0) with 19 points a eight rebounds with teammate Ben Tucakovic scoring 17 points and pulling down six rebounds for the Eagles. Tre’ Benton added 15 points while Jaden Jenkins (Tacoma, Wash.) had a team high six assists. NU dominated the backboards with a 51-30 rebounding margin which included 13 offensive rebounds.

Troy Flanagan led Portland Bible (0-9) with 13 points and Treyveon Merriweather dropped in 12 points for the Wildcats. PBC was held to 31 per cent shooting from the field and 30 per cent from the 3-point line.

“We continue to share the ball offensively,” said NU coach, John Van Dyke. “17 assists indicates our guys are looking for the open man and I was pleased with our control of the rebounding today. The team is coming together and we will be tested this Tuesday when we open conference play against Evergreen.”
