Local football players sign with Washington, Central Washington, Navy

Three local high school football players participated in National Signing Day festivities, officially inking their commitments to play for college programs.

Juanita High senior Salvon Ahmed, among the most highly-recruited athletes in the state, announced his intent to play for the University of Washington in September. Ahmed was named the KingCo 3A offensive MVP despite missing three games at the start of the season with an injured hand.

Ahmed rushed for 13 touchdowns and more than 1,200 yards, leading Juanita to a conference title and a home playoff game in the first round of the postseason.

Ahmed was named a first-team all-conference running back, first-team corner and first-team kick returner, and became the first Juanita player to participate in the U.S. Army All-American Bowl in January.

Teammate Dean Sise, a first-team linebacker and second-team wide receiver, announced a commitment to play for the U.S. Naval Academy during the fall season. Sise led the Rebels in receptions, receiving yards and receiving touchdowns.

Sise also led the team in solo tackles with 51.

Lake Washington High senior Sean Gordon was among the last local players to announce his college choice. Gordon, a tight end and defensive lineman, received several offers in the final days including Northern State University (South Dakota) and Central Washington University.

Gordon announced his intent to play for Central Washington on Twitter on Jan. 30.

“I can’t thank my family, teammates (and) coaches enough for supporting me every step of the way the past four years of my life,” Gordon said in his announcement.
