Lake Washington’s Brett Pearson netted second place in singles at the 3A state tennis tournament on May 24-25 in Kennewick.
He won three straight matches before losing in the final, 6-3, 6-4, to Alan Yim of Lakeside. Pearson beat opponents from Mount Spokane (6-1, 6-0), Bellevue (6-2, 6-0) and O’Dea (3-6, 6-3, 6-3).
On the LW boys doubles front, Subhu Purohit and Alex Levine placed fifth when they beat Nathan Webster and Robbie Fiocchi of Kennewick, 6-4, 6-4.
The Kangs took second in the team standings.
Also for LW, Ellie Gershaw placed sixth in singles, going 2-2 in the tournament and making the semifinals. LW placed seventh overall.
