Lake Washington, Juanita boys to play in KingCo tournament on Feb. 3

Regardless of the results in Tuesday’s final regular-season games, the Lake Washington High boys basketball team will play Juanita in the play-in round of the KingCo Conference 3A tournament on Feb. 3 at Lake Washington High School.

Lake Washington lost to Redmond, 48-45, on Jan. 27 at Redmond High School to seal the match up.

Lake Washington (6-7 KingCo, 8-7) led by two after the first quarter, but gave up a 13-point edge in the second period and trailed at halftime.

Redmond’s Aleks Bober led the Mustangs (8-5, 9-9) with 14 points in the win.

Beau Heimdahl had 16 points to lead all scorers in the loss for Lake Washington. Jordan Richter had nine points and Dalton Liesse had eight, but the Mustangs held sophomore post Griffin Barker — the team leader in double-doubles — to just four points and five boards.

The Juanita boys lost to Bellevue, 67-63, on Jan. 27 in Bellevue, locking the Rebels in as the fifth seed. The winner of the Lake Washington-Juanita game will play Mercer Island in the first round.

Lake Washington won the first regular season game against Juanita on Dec. 16, 58-51, and beat Juanita on Jan. 24, 61-58.

Redmond, the third seed, will play Bellevue on Feb. 4 in the first round of the tournament.

Juanita is scheduled to wrap up the regular season against Liberty at 8 p.m. on Jan. 31 at the Juanita High School Fieldhouse. Lake Washington has conference-leading Mercer Island at 8 p.m. on Jan. 31 on Mercer Island.

Providence Classical Christian 40, Arlington Christian 36.

The Highlanders snapped a five-game losing skid with a close Northwest League win over Arlington Christian on Jan. 25 at Cascade Christian Reformed Church in Marysville.

Providence, which is based in Kirkland but plays home games at Overlake Christian Church in Redmond, still has a shot at making the Class 1B District 1 tournament, which begins Feb. 7.

The Highlanders (3-7 Northwest, 3-8) are a game behind Tulalip Heritage in the loss column for the sixth and final seed to the tournament. Providence is scheduled to play Cedar Park Christian-Mountlake Terrace on Jan. 30, and are set to play Tulalip Heritage on Jan. 31.

The regular season wraps up with a road game against Lummi Nation on Feb. 2.
