Lake Washington gymnasts notch third at state

Lake Washington High’s gymnasts vaulted to third place in the team standings at the 3A state championships on Feb. 15 at the Tacoma Dome Exhibition Hall.

The Kangs — who scored 167.650 — consisted of Kaysha Walford, Audrey Arnold, Joeli Pence, Paige Chickering, Sonya Amirzehni, Yael Pasumansky and Eden Netz.

Individually, Walford took third in the all-around competition with a 36.775 and Juanita’s Daphanie Chan took 12th with a 34.575.

On Feb. 16, Chickering tied for third on beam (9.250) and Chan took eighth (8.950); Walford took fifth on floor (9.450) and Juanita’s Emma Harrington tied for eighth (9.400); Harrington took fifth on vault (9.525) and Walford took sixth (9.475); and Walford took 12th on bars (8.825).
