Lake Washington baseball advances to state semifinals

With a pair of wins on day one of the 3A state tournament, the Lake Washington baseball squad has secured a spot in the semifinals.

After beating Kamiakin, 10-4, and Mount Spokane, 10-2, on May 18 at County Stadium in Yakima, the Kangs will take on Gig Harbor at 1 p.m. May 24 at GESA in Pasco.

Against Mount Spokane, Ricky Koishida and Travis Lee delivered two hits each, Jesus Vizcarra had a single and four RBIs, I-Ly Hsue had a double and two RBIs and Dylan Kennedy doubled. Jose Vizcarra pitched five innings and earned the win.

In the Kamiakin victory, Nation Wood had three hits — including two doubles — and three RBIs, Torin Montgomery had two hits — including a double — and three RBIs, Jose Vizcarra had three singles and Hsue and Nick Anderson had two singles each. Overall, everyone in the lineup registered a hit.
