Kirkland knocks off Prague, 15-0, in World Series

Kirkland keeps rolling in the Little League Softball World Series.

Ashlyn Cook hammered four hits and Hailey Story notched three hits, including two doubles, and six RBIs to lead Kirkland to a 15-0 victory over Prague, Czech Republic in Friday’s matchup at Alpenrose Stadium in Portland, Oregon.

Cook had a triple and two RBIs as the West tallied 15 hits. The locals scored seven runs in the first inning and four in both the second and fourth innings in the run-rule game. Christina Minor and Emma Pascal knocked two hits each.

From the pitchers’ circle, Minor gave up just one hit in three innings of work with six strikeouts, and Kya Aldrich closed it out with two hits surrendered in the fourth inning.

Shortstop Minor recorded the final out by tagging a runner out in a rundown between second and third.

Kirkland (2-0) will continue four-game Pool A action against the East (Tunkhannock, Pennsylvania) at 9 a.m. Saturday on ESPN+ online and then Canada (Victoria, British Columbia) at 7 p.m. Sunday. Elimination play begins on Monday.
