Kirkland athletes qualify for state track and field meet

Juanita and Lake Washington will send 20 athletes to the 3A state track and field championships this weekend at Mount Tahoma High in Tacoma.

The athletes qualified for state last weekend at the district meet at the Southwest Athletic Complex in Seattle.

They are:

Juanita — Michael Gengo (800 meters), Adrian Goodwin (1,600 and 3,200 meters), Dean Sise (long jump), Joao Nascimento (shot put), Shelby Wilks (100- and 300-meter hurdles) and Katrina Teo (pole vault).

Lake Washington — Cody Wilson (100 meters); the boys 4×100-meter relay of Jeff Young, Alec Moen, Jet Yinn and Colby Coco; Brandon Gockel (javelin); Brady Gockel (javelin); Thayer Davis (100 meters); Yael Pasumansky (100 meters); Taryn Chisholm (100 hurdles); the girls 4×100 relay of Pasumansky, Haimanot Hansen, Lizzie Bensussen and Kaysha Walford; Brittany Blaskovich (pole vault); and Hansen (javelin).
