The Juanita High School girls basketball team began the season Monday with a big 68-51 victory against Seattle Prep at Juanita High School.

The Juanita High School girls basketball team began the season Monday with a big 68-51 victory against Seattle Prep at Juanita High School. The game showed the youth movement at work for the Rebels, as two freshmen, Tea Adams and Shalexxus Aaron, led the team in scoring.

The Rebels began the game by more than doubling up the Panters’ point total with a 21-10 advantage after one quarter of play. Prep bounced back, cutting the Juanita advantage to just five points by half time.

But the Rebels took control following the break, sprinting back to a double-digit lead, 49-37, at the end of the third quarter.

Adams was the top scorer for Juanita with 20 points, while Aaron had 17 points. Both players finished with six rebounds. Junior Jaisa Nunn led the team with seven rebounds and had 13 points.

The Rebels will host Enumclaw at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
