Juanita girls fall short on Mercer Island; Sammamish beats LW

Heading into Wednesday’s conference game on Mercer Island, the Juanita High girls basketball team has lost by double digits only once to conference opponents.

The undefeated Islanders added to that tally on Wednesday evening, handing the Rebels a 63-50 loss.

Mercer Island’s Anna Luce led all scorers with 29 points, including 11-for-12 from the free-throw line.

Juanita’s Tea Adams had 24 points, four steals and three assists.

The Rebels (6-4 KingCo, 10-6) trailed by only two points after the first quarter, but Mercer Island went on a 19-5 run heading into halftime. Juanita outscored the Islanders (10-0, 12-0) by three points the rest of the way.

Next, Juanita is set to take on Interlake at 6 p.m. on Friday at the Juanita Fieldhouse.

Sammamish 52, Lake Washington 37

Totem senior Promise Taylor scored 29 points as Sammamish beat Lake Washington in a conference game on Tuesday in Bellevue.

Sammamish led 17-12 at the end of the first quarter and 33-20 at halftime.

Sydney Olson led Lake Washington (1-8, 2-13) with 15 points. Olivia Smallman had nine points.
