Coyotes edge Northwest University men in conference tournament

Aitor Zubizarreta hit the go-ahead 3-pointer with a minute remaining as the College of Idaho mens basketball team dealt Northwest a loss in the Cascade Collegiate Conference quarterfinals, 75-72, on Tuesday evening in Caldwell, Idaho.

Northwest’s Ben Tucakovic and Michael Dupree missed potential game-tying shots in the final minute, and the Eagles bowed out of the conference tournament.

Northwest led by two at halfitme, and rallied from an eight-point deficit midway through the second half. The teams tied three times in the final four minutes of the game.

Justice Martion led Northwest with 23 points. Dupree scored 18 points, including 3-of-4 from long range, and Tucaovic had 12 points.

Joe Nebeker scored 28 points to lead College of Idaho, which moves on to face Oregon Tech in the semifinals on Feb. 25 in Caldwell.
