Central Park Tennis Club in Kirkland named USTA PNW 2016 Facility of the Year

Central Park Tennis Club officials announced the club is the recipient of the United States Tennis Association Pacific Northwest “2016 Facility of the Year” award.

This prestigious recognition is awarded annually and based on the following criteria: ease of working with the USTA leagues, number of USTA teams (with respect to the size of the club), overall layout, excellence of court surfaces and lights, amenities, seating for spectators, and court use for playoffs and sectionals as well as volunteers for these large events. Previous winners of this award include the Vancouver Tennis Center (2015) and Yakima Tennis Center (2014).

“We are honored to be recognized for our efforts in bringing tennis to the Pacific Northwest,” said Julie Wheadon, General Manager, Central Park Tennis Club. “As a member owned club we try our best to balance social with competitive tennis. With the growth of USTA tennis, our membership has been able to embrace both – creating opportunities to play, as well as open our doors to the tennis community for all ages and levels of play. We are fortunate to have wonderful members and dedicated staff that all love the game of tennis and see it as a sport to play for life.”

Established in 1972 and comprised of over 500 members, Central Park Tennis Club currently holds the title of the largest member-owned hard court indoor tennis club in the country, according to club officials.

With 18 tennis courts, 12 indoor and six outdoor, Central Park prides itself on being the “Tennis Player’s” club. While tennis is the primary focus, Central Park Tennis Club offers members a completely equipped and staffed workout facility, locker rooms, massage services, an outdoor swimming pool and cafe.
