Former Lake Washington High School Athletic Director and boys basketball head coach Terry Johnson, 31, has been hired as the girls basketball head coach at Auburn Riverside.

Johnson led the Kangs basketball team for six seasons, finishing with an overall record of 60-70. The coach guided Lake Washington to a 7-13 mark last winter. Johnson’s best season with the Kangs came during the 2005-06 season, as he guided the team to a 16-6 record, winning the 4A KingCo Conference East Division title. But the team finished below .500 each season after.

Johnson was both the boys and girls basketball head coach for the final two weeks of the regular season during 2008 after the girls head coach was let go. He will continue to teach at Lake Washington High School during the 2009-10 school year. Administration officials for Auburn Riverside said that they will have a position for Johnson by the 2010-11 school year.
