Nagashima shines at national meet

Sarah Nagashima, a 2006 Juanita High graduate and junior at the University of Arkansas, earned first-team All-American honors at the NCAA National Gymnastics Championships in Lincoln, Neb., last month. She led her team to a fifth-place finish and tied for third on the balance beam (9.90) in the individual event finals.

Nagashima is the first gymnast in the program’s history to place in the top three individually at nationals.

She was also recognized on the 2009 Southeastern Conference Winter Academic Honor Roll.

The NCAA Super Six championship team meet will air at 11 a.m. May 9 on CBS.
