Kangs pounce on Mercer Island for 14-point win | Prep boys basketball

The Lake Washington High School boys basketball team used two 20-point quarters to beat Mercer Island Tuesday night at home.

But the game did not start well for Lake Washington, as the team fell behind by five points during the first quarter. The Kangs found a rhythm on offense during the second period and a took a 28-25 lead into the half.

The teams played shot-for-shot during the third quarter but Lake Washington pulled away by outscoring the Islanders 20-12 during the fourth quarter.

Kelly Guy led the Kangs with 21 points, while teammates Jumal Muhammad (12) and Jeff Staudacher (11) both finished in double figures in scoring.
