Shepard, Brender combined for 44, pushing Kangs past Mustangs | Prep girls basketball

Lake Washington's Sydney Shepard and Hannah Brender combined for 44 points Saturday, as the Kangs defeated Redmond 60-36 in Kirkland.

The Kangs ran away from the Mustangs during the first half, building a 37-16 halftime lead.

Redmond kept pace during the second half but could never cut into the lead.

Shepard led all scorers with 26 points, while Brender put up 17 points.

Eight Lake Washington players scored during the contest.
