Juanita swimmers, soccer players win | Prep Report

Kicking off the 2012 girls' swim season last Thursday, the Juanita High Rebels narrowly defeated the Inglemoor Vikings 93-90.

Highlights for the Rebels include Kayla DiMicco winning the 50 free in 25.58 seconds, Julia Andersson taking the 500 free in 5:50.63, Tess Farley out-touching Inglemoor's Emily Chapple to win in 1:07.06. DiMicco also won the diving competition with 174.2 points, sneaking by Viking Jackie Tabone (173.30).

The Rebels also won the freestyle relays, with the team of Anna Michel, Kennedy Byrne, Casey Harder and DiMicco taking the 200 in 1:59.76, and Andersson, DiMicco, Michel and DiMicco's sister AJ winning the 400 in 3:55.88.

Rebels soccer wins season opener

The Juanita High girls' soccer team started on the right foot after a 2-1 victory over class 1A power Seattle Academy on Wednesday night at home.

Zoe Thomas scored both of Juanita's goals, in the fourth and 34th minutes, and was able to hang on for the victory after Seattle Academy scored in the first half.
