The Lake Washington girls soccer team took another step toward the 3A state tournament on Wednesday evening after winning the KingCo tournament championship. The Kangs beat Bellevue 1-0 in the final KingCo tournament game.
With the win, the team moves on to play a Metro opponent, to be decided in a game Thursday night, at Lake Washington High School on Saturday at 3:30 p.m.
During the match against Bellevue, the two teams battled in very rainy, windy game on the Kangs home turf. After a scoreless first half, Emily Bunnell connected with Cassie Lively in the 77th minute to give the team a 1-0 lead. It remained the only goal of the game.
If Lake Washington wins the game on Saturday, the team would earn the District 2 No. 4 seed into the state tournament. The 3A state tournament begins Nov. 9 at various stadiums.
