Kirkland All Stars win first regional game in California

The Kirkland Major All Stars softball team started off the Western Regional tournament Sunday afternoon with a win over Montana.
After winning the state tournament in Woodinville, the team from Kirkland headed south and became the Washington representatives. They beat the team from Montana 12-1 in just four innings.
They earned the first run of the game in the second inning and kept it going from there. Clare Sovacool was 2-2 with a double, Tatum Kawabata was 1-2, Gianna Paribello was 1-1, Brynn Radke was 1-2, Lisa Nelson was 2-3, Alex Hanger was 1-2 and Sophia Swain was 1-3.
The team had nine hits in four innings. Nelson pitched for the first two innings, striking out three and giving up one hit. Tori Bivens pitched the remaining two innings, striking out four, giving up with hits and one run.
The girls from Kirkland will take on Utah Monday night at 7 p.m.
