Lake Washington earns big win over Sammamish
Earning their second win of the fall season, the Lake Washington football team traveled to and beat Sammamish last Friday 38-14.
The Kangs, who are currently 2-3 this season overall, picked up their first conference win against the Totems.
Lake Washington started the night off with Alex Donnelly scoring a 12-yard run touchdown in the first quarter. It was followed by what would be the first of six solid kicks from Adam Krebs.
With a 7-0 lead heading into the second quarter, the Kangs offense found its legs, adding 17 points to the scoreboard, beginning with a 5-yard field goal from Krebs for a 9-0 lead. Donnelly made his second of four touchdowns during the game off a 5-yard run. Making quick work on defense to slow the Totems, Lake Washington's Robert Reyes caught the ball on a 9-yard pass from quarterback Spencer Jackson.
Sammamish's Chris Lider scored his first of two touchdowns close to the end of the half off a 15-yard pass from Andrew Engles. Lider also served as the Totems kicker, adding another point to his game tally. The half ended with the Kangs leading 24-7.
Lider turned around at the beginning of the second half and scored the Totems final touchdown of the game off a 5-yard pass from Engles. Lider's second kick of the night was good.
But Lake Washington wasn't finished playing their game that night. Donnelly finished the night with his final two touchdowns, one in the third quarter, a 6-yard run and a big run in the fourth for a 35-yard touchdown.
The Kangs will travel to Liberty tonight to star in the Patriot's homecoming game. Liberty lost last week to Juanita for a 3-2 season record.
