Marchione, McBride, Sweet, Walen
October 28, 2009 · Updated 4:01 PM
Four outstanding candidates, Doreen Marchione, Joan McBride, Penny Sweet and Amy Walen are up for election and I urge all thoughtful Kirkland residents to vote for them. They are all endorsed by 10 former Kirkland mayors and all have amassed a broad range of support plus mine. All are endorsed by The Seattle Times. Here’s just a sample of the endorsements they have earned: McBride: Kirkland Fire Fighters, Women’s Political Caucus, Washington State Conservation Voters. Marchione: Women’s Political Caucus, AFCSME ‚ Kirkland Municipal Employees Association, Affordable Housing Council, and rated “Outstanding” by Muni-League. Sweet: Kirkland Police and Fire Department, AFCSME, Kirkland Municipal Employees Association, and rated “Outstanding” by Muni-League. Walen: Kirkland Fire Fighters, Washington Conservation Voters, and the Affordable Housing Council. All four would serve the city well for years ahead.
Dr. Skip Nelson, Kirkland
