Kudos to Fletcher's volunteerism

Walking through the Kirkland Wednesday Market with Terri Fletcher and her dog Hawk, I came to realize that there were very few Kirklandites who did not know Terri and Hawk. What I thought would be a brief wander throught the market for fresh veggies turned out to be a real experience of watching others meeting and greeting this high-energy giving person. She volunteers for so many causes with great humility (oh, it was nothing) ... bartends at Merrill Gardens and Georges to launch upcoming events; volunteers for any pet cause; emceed at the Fourth of July parade grandstand (after weeks of collecting scripts); judged and coordinated Kirkland Classic Car Show.

Having observed her, I am amazed at all the zillions of hours of preparation and follow-up involved prior to and after these great events. Her main focus is real estate, but she offers so much to the City of Kirkland year after year. Had she not moved in next door to us, along with most citizens we would never have known how much time and effort she volunteers for this fortunate city. It would be great to have volunteers rewarded or acknowledged to the degree they well deserve.
