I am not opposed to the annexation of the areas north of Kirkland as I can see the tax benefits ... However, it is extremely important that the council bring before the voters on the same ballot a council redistricting proposal whereby council members are elected from the different geographic regions of the city in which they reside.

If the council fails to take this measure in conjunction with the annexation proposal, I will then fight annexation.

It is absurd to think all of these newly annexed folks, along with the current north Kirkland residents, are going to allow a group of councilmen basically living in Kirkland proper to govern the north region of the city.

A "council at large" model works great in a town the size of Duvall but Kirkland has grown up and it is time the council grows up too.
