In the race for 45th District senator, the best decision for voters is to re-elect Andy Hill.
Senator Andy Hill crafted a budget that put $1.4 billion dollars into public education without raising taxes. This has been the most put into education in recent history. Furthermore, this budget also froze in-state college tuition for the first time in 30 years. This is a major achievement. The importance in the passage of this budget was that it did not pass with 51 percent of the vote. No, it passed in both the House and Senate with 89 percent of the vote. This was the most bipartisan budget in over twenty years. It was because of this budget the Sen. Hill received endorsements from both Stand for Children and the League of Education Voters.
Furthermore Sen. Hill was instrumental in crafting the Vulnerable Individuals Priority (VIP) Act. This proposal makes sure adequate funding goes into DSHS so that individuals with developmental disabilities can receive the help they need. Right now there is a backlog of 4,000 individuals that need respite care and over 1,000 individuals that need assistance in finding employment. Instead of a waitlist, these individuals will receive the services they need right away. In fact, this proposal passed the House and Senate with broad bipartisan support. It passed the Senate with 100 percent of the vote.
His opponent Matt Isenhower seems like a nice man and he probably is, but what does he even have to offer? All he has done is rely on a few talking points and throw mud at Sen. Andy Hill. In fact, Matt Isenhower was a Republican until he made the decision to run against Sen. Hill. His whole background is Republican. How can you believe someone who changed his party just to run for office? Don’t fall into Isenhower’s hyper-partisan rhetoric. If you want honest leadership with real results in Olympia, then make the right decision and re-elect Sen. Andy Hill.
