As I recently drove through bustling downtown Kirkland on a Wednesday afternoon and my thoughts were: Drivers! Slow down, watch for crosswalks and pedestrians.

Pedestrians! Slow down, watch for drivers ... and please use the lights or the flags when they are available at the crosswalks.
It takes the caution of both driver and pedestrian to avoid accidents.
Here's to a safe summer.

Susan Vossler, Kirkland
