Susan Louise McMullen Josten was called to be with her Lord on February 19, 2018 in Boise, Idaho.

Susan was born on May 5, 1949 in Wenatchee, Washington, the daughter of Eleanor and Reverend Win McMullen, who served the Free Methodist Church in Washington state and was the first director of Warm Beach Christian Camp and Conference Center in Stanwood, Washington.

Susan spent a happy childhood in Wenatchee, Omak, and Everett, Washington. She enjoyed summers as a camp kid and later worked on the crew of Warm Beach Camp. She graduated from Queen Anne High School in Seattle, and Seattle Pacific University, where she earned a master’s degree. Susan’s Human Resources career brought her recognition and honors for professional excellence at Aetna Medicare and PacifiCare.

For many years, Sue attended First Free Methodist Church in Seattle, where she was actively involved. She had a lovely singing voice and traveled with musical groups that performed in churches throughout the area. Sue was also a church leader in activities for young women. She referred to them as “my girls”. Sue had a genuine love for people. Whatever their age or station in life, Sue could identify with them.

She is survived by her husband Rod Josten; sister Pat Lindemuth (Kevin) of Sequim, Washington; sister Jan Perly (Harvey) of Palm Coast, Florida; brother Jim McMullen (Karen) of Lone Tree, Colorado; daughter Rochelle Rhyner of Tulalip, Washington; daughter Alycia Pennington (Chris) of Vancouver, Washington; grandchildren Alex, Josh, Kristen, and Braden; sister in-law Clair Kinney (Steve), Lynnwood,Washington; a nephew and nieces; and many special friends and neighbors, all of whom brought joy to her life.

Sue will be greatly missed by everyone who knew her and experienced her love and friendship.

A private committal service was held at the Idaho State Veterans Cemetery in Boise.
