Cleo Amelia Bratt

Cleo Amelia Bratt, 95, of Anacortes, Washington passed away Sunday, June 15, 2014 in Mount Vernon, WA. This past year she had been living at Lighthouse Memory Care in Anacortes.

Cleo was born on February 23, 1919 in Peace River, Edmonton, Alberta to Thomas and Cora (Kerle) Booth. Her family moved to Washington when she was four years old.

Cleo graduated from Redmond High School and later married classmate, John Bratt in 1941. They lived in Kirkland for forty-three years raising their son and daughter near Lake Washington and Juanita Golf Course.

Cleo was a secretary for the Lake Washington School District and John was a manager of the MacDougall’s Southwick Appliance Store and later an insurance man. They were both active in the community participating in several service clubs. When they retired they moved to Burlington and lived at the Skagit Golf and Country Club where they enjoyed a new community of friends.

Cleo had many talents and interests. She was a wonderful cook and loved to entertain friends. Gardening, sewing and golfing were also activities she enjoyed, and she loved shoes. Her family was her greatest pride.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Seann and Dohrea Bardell of Bellevue; daughter and son-in-law, Janice and Glen Veal of Guemes Island; and grandsons and their wives, Adam and Angie Veal and son Ari, and Eric and Jessica Veal. Cleo was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Cora; and her husband, John.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Sunday, August 17, 2014 at Seafarers’ Memorial Park, 601 Seafarers’ Way, in Anacortes. Memorials may be made to Skagit Hospice or to the Children’s Orthopedic Hospital.

Arrangements are in the care of Evans Funeral Chapel and Crematory, Inc., Anacortes, WA and the San Juan Islands.
