Two Kirkland men accused of attempting to murder a teen last month after they allegedly broke into his home and hacked him with weapons, pleaded not guilty today in King County Superior Court.

Vincent Vinny Sisounong, 21, and Blessing T. Gainey, 19, are both being held in King County Jail on charges of first-degree attempted murder and burglary in the first degree.

The men allegedly broke into a home in Kirkland’s Evergreen Hill neighborhood on Oct. 12 and confronted an 18-year-old with edged weapons as he slept in his bed, according to charging documents.

The victim told police the suspects held a knife to his throat and he heard one of them say he wanted to kill him, the documents continue.

Sisounong and Gainey allegedly took the teen to his basement and threatened to harm the other people in the house if he wasn’t quiet. The victim claimed Sisounong wrestled him to the floor and instructed Gainey to cut off his leg, according to court documents.

After a violent struggle, the victim fled to his neighbor’s house, where Kirkland police found him with several cuts, stabs and edged-blade-type gashes on his leg, shoulder, hands and head.

Charging documents state the reason the men attacked a complete stranger was for “pleasure and greed.”

Sisounong is being held on a $1 million bail and Gainey is being held on a $500,000 bail.

Their next court hearing is set for Dec. 5 at King County Superior Court.
