A 26-year-old Kirkland man was transported to Harborview Medical Center Sunday night after he was shot at his home around 10 p.m. in an apparent home-invasion robbery in the Juanita neighborhood.
Two armed males forced their way into his residence at 12000 block of 102nd Court N.E. The man was with his girlfriend when the invaders “pistol whipped” him before he was taken outside and eventually shot. The woman heard the weapon fire and found the victim with gunshot wounds to the arm and torso. The suspects fled the scene on foot.
“We all heard the shots,” said neighbor Chris Villarosa. “I heard a guy yell for help and then my cousin saw a guy running.”
The victim was transported to Harborview by Kirkland Fire AID Unit for treatment and is now in stable condition.
Kirkland police describe the incident as a “home invasion robbery” but it is unknown what the suspects took.
Kirkland police say it is unknown whether the victim knew the suspects.
“If anyone heard or saw anything please contact the police,” said Det. Alan O’Neill.
Meanwhile, the Kirkland Police Department located a vehicle in which three suspects jumped out of and fled. Redmond police assisted in tracking the suspects throughout the night. It is unknown if the suspects in the car had anything to do with the home-invasion robbery.
This is the second reported home invasion in a week in Kirkland.
Police responded to a similar case when an adult family home was invaded on Aug. 18.
Last Friday, police were called to the 7000 block of N.E. 137th St. at 12:30 p.m. when the suspects entered through the unlocked front door and demanded to know where a safe was located.
Two female residents suffered minor injuries after being forced to lie on the floor as the suspects took the safe and left.
“Usually this is a nice, quiet neighborhood,” said neighbor Morgan Horne.
Police released a description of one of the three suspects as a male in his mid-40s with brown hair and a thin unshaven face. He is believed to have been wearing blue jeans, a navy blue hooded jacket and a gray baseball cap at the time of the invasion.
Both investigations are ongoing.
