Between Dec. 27 to Jan. 2, the Kirkland Police Department reported 523 traffic violations, 12 DUIs, 25 alarm calls, 14 noise complaints, two juvenile crimes, 14 calls of disturbance, 20 thefts, five car prowls, five car thefts, 16 traffic accidents, 15 calls of civil disturbance, seven reported burglaries, 14 domestic violence calls, eight calls for harassment, seven reports of illegal drugs, two alleged assaults, seven acts of fraud, four malicious mischief reports, two sex offenses, three suicides and one robbery. At least 52 people were arrested.

Jan. 2

Domestic violence: 1:35 a.m., 8200 block of NE 142nd St. Two 40-year-old men and one 33-year-old man were arrested for various crimes after police were called for an assault. One of the 40-year-old men was arrested for assaulting his roommate. When the roommate locked him out of the residence, the suspect broke the sliding glass door and punched the victim in the face. After police arrived, they arrested two other men on a misdemeanor and felony warrant.

Jan. 1

Domestic violence: 2:30 a.m., 12500 block of NE 143rd St. A 26-year-old woman was arrested for scratching her 32-year-old ex-boyfriend and current roommate. Two magazine clips and a Springfield .40 caliber gun were taken for safe keeping.

Domestic violence: 5:45 a.m., 9000 block of NE 116th Place. A 35-year-old man was arrested for grabbing and hitting his 29-year-old girlfriend in the face two to three times, causing her to fall to the ground. The two got into an argument about the man’s ex-girlfriend, when the girlfriend threw a pillow at him. Police could detect physical markings on the woman’s face.

Warrant: 6:49 a.m., 13325 100th Ave. NE. A 50-year-old man was arrested on an outstanding driving while license suspended warrant. Police contacted him after Starbucks’ employees called to have the man removed, as he had been sleeping next to the store building.

Dec. 31

Domestic violence: 10:30 a.m., 6400 block of Lake Washington Boulevard NE. A 31-year-old man was arrested after he threatened to hit his 56-year-old mother with a sledge hammer and destroy her home.

Illegal drugs: 9:30 p.m., 10800 block of NE 132nd St. A 20-year-old man was arrested on an outstanding warrant for possession of marijuana. A search, prior to his arrest, revealed the minor had 26.6 grams of marijuana. A gray wooden box containing the drug, a digital scale and suspected marijuana were seized as evidence.

Dec. 30

Theft: 12 a.m., 12412 116th Ave. NE. A 34-year-old man stole three burritos and two energy drinks from the Union 76 Station in Totem Lake.

Dec. 29

Domestic violence: 6:20 p.m., 11600 block of NE 116th St. A 39-year-old man was cited for assaulting a 35-year-old woman while at their son’s basketball game. There were at least two witnesses.

Domestic violence: 6:45 p.m., 13500 block of 120th Ave. NE. A 53-year-old man was arrested after he entered his 88-year-old mother’s residence and assaulted his 24-year-old nephew. The suspect hit his nephew over the head with a glass frame and kicked him in the face multiple times. He fled the scene but was arrested at the hospital after he admitted himself.

Assault: 1:30 a.m., 300 block of Kirkland Ave. A 32-year-old man was cited after he charged at an officer in an attempted assault. The man was seen attempting to enter a car and appeared extremely intoxicated. The man also charged at second officer and refused to comply with verbal commands. While attempting to subdue the man, the suspect fought officers, grabbed their radios and damaged the microphone, causing officers to lose contact with dispatch.

Dec. 28

Domestic violence: 12:50 a.m., 12200 block NE 73rd St. of A 33-year-old man was arrested for being the primary aggressor in a fight between him and his 28-year-old girlfriend. Both had minor scratches.

Domestic violence: 4:45 p.m., 11400 block of NE 94th St. A 41-year-old man was cited for causing minor injuries to his girlfriend and damaging her property. His 42-year-old girlfriend went to his house but discovered him with another woman. After getting into an argument, the girlfriend tried to take her TV and dishes from the residence but the suspect stomped on the TV and broke the dishes. The woman was gone when police arrived but went to the police department later to provide a statement.

Domestic violence: 3 p.m., 11900 block of NE 132nd Place. A 43-year-old man was taken into custody for pushing his 40-year-old girlfriend. He grabbed her right forearm, causing her pain with a bruise. The woman said he chocked her but police couldn’t find evidence of that assault.

Malicious mischief: 11:10 p.m., 14417 block of 124th Ave. NE. A 29-year-old man was cited for striking the glass of a door at Tony’s Sports Bar, after refusing to leave.
