Man struck by Everett transit bus identified as Kirkland resident

Benjamin J. Eacker, 41, had been knocked into the path of a bus on Broadway in Everett while trying to re-enter a vehicle.

A man who was killed by an Everett city bus on March 16 was identified on April 2 as Benjamin J. Eacker, 41, of Kirkland.

According to The Daily Herald, at about 10 p.m. that night, Eacker had exited a black car in the 8100 block of Broadway in Everett, between Beverly Boulevard and 75th Street Southeast. He was on the driver’s side of the four-door car, trying to get back in, when the woman in the vehicle drove off, said officer Aaron Snell with the Everett Police Department, who added that Eacker knew the woman.

Eacker was knocked into the path of an southbound bus. He died at the scene, the Herald reports.

According to the Herald, police found the car in Mukilteo hours later. Detectives spoke with the woman. She was not arrested and Eacker’s death was ruled an accident.
