A mother of four was found dead in her Kirkland home Monday afternoon.

The mother of Amy Rene Gang Hargrove, 28, called police after she found her daughter dead in one of her apartment bedrooms in the 9800 block of NE 130th Place, near Juanita Elementary. It was around 3 p.m. when she called police.

Hargrove died from asphyxiation by strangulation, a homicide, the King County Medical Examiner’s Office recently confirmed.

Kirkland police are investigating a person of interest, a man who had a relationship with the woman and the father of one of her children.

“The detectives are pretty confident that if it wasn’t him, it was someone who knew her,” said Lt. Mike Murray with the Kirkland Police Department, adding that they’ve interview the man twice now. “It wasn’t some random assault.”

Of Hargrove’s four children, one 3-year-old was with her mother when she called police.

Detectives issued a search warrant for the residence to investigate the scene of the woman’s death.

Murray couldn’t confirm where the children are staying, although he said detectives are still canvassing the surrounding area looking for more evidence, and speaking with those who knew Hargrove.
