Kindergarten registration opens on Feb. 2 for Lake Washington School District

Though the 2017-18 school year is still more than eight months away, the first school day for some of Kirkland’s youngest residents comes in early February.

Kindergarten registration for Lake Washington School District will open on Thursday, Feb. 2, from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m.

While there are some exceptions, children should be five years old on or before Aug. 31, 2017 to register.

Kirkland houses 11 of the district’s 29 elementary schools, including Thereau, Sandburg, Juanita, Keller, Frost, Bell, Kirk, Twain, Rose Hill, Franklin, Lakeview, in addition to International Community School, a K-12 choice school, and Emerson, a K-12 alternative school.

Registration takes place at the child’s neighborhood school. A map of elementary boundaries can be found on the district’s website, and is searchable by address.

Parents should bring a proof of residency, proof of the child’s birth date, the child’s health history and emergency contact information to registration.

More information can be found on the district’s Kindergarten Registration website.
