The Juanita Beach Park Swim area that has been closed since last week due to high levels of bacteria was reopened Wednesday.

King County Department of Natural Resources found high levels of fecal coliform bacteria June 26 during routine testing.

Usual suspects in the past have included urban runoff from Juanita Creek that enters Juanita Beach, as well as a high number of geese that take residence at the beach.

King County collects water samples on a weekly basis between May and September at Juanita Beach. To obtain water quality results for Juanita Beach swim area, visit King County’s Web site at www.kingcounty.gov. For open/close status, call the Swim Area Hotline at 425-587-3860.
