Local firm Celebrate Express has completed a merger with a subsidiary of Liberty Media Corporation.
At a special shareholders meeting Aug. 28, the deal was approved and articles of merger were filed with the state the next day.
The company will keep about 50 people in their Kirkland offices.
Englewood, Colo.-based Liberty Mediapurchased Celebrate for roughly $3.90 per share or over 70 percent of its pre-merger value.
Founded in 1994 by local couple Mike and Jan Jewell as Birthday Express, the company has offices in Kirkland (11232 120th Ave. N.E. #204) and Greensboro, N.C.
New owners Liberty said it would fold Celebrate into its BuySeasons.com unit.
