2014 Tolling the Boats ceremony Saturday at Kirkland's Marina Park Pavillion

The annual Tolling the Boats ceremony and picnic will take place tomorrow, Aug. 16 at the Kirkland Marina Park Pavilion.

The event is designed to honor submarine sailors who made the ultimate sacrifice.

Set up will start around 10 a.m. and the picnic at around 11:30 a.m. The ceremony will begin at about 1:15 p.m.

The Tolling the Boats ceremony is part of the US Submarine Veterans' organization. It is also an opportunity to honor those who served in World War II.

The event is open and free to the public and Kirkland Mayor Amy Walen is expected to attend.

Marina Park is located at 25 Lakeshore Plaza Drive.
