Technical college names new vice president

Lake Washington Technical College has named Dr. Sara “Sunny” Burns as its new vice president for instruction. She will provide leadership and supervision for the college’s 38 professional technical programs, academic programs, curriculum and faculty professional development.

Dr. Burns has worked for more than 30 years in the state’s community and technical college system. She was previously vice president for instruction at Bates Technical College in Tacoma and before that served as vice president for learning and student success at Pierce College Fort Steilacoom.

Dr. Burns has a doctorate in education leadership from Gonzaga University. She also has a Master of Science degree in community college education and a Bachelor of Arts degree in parks and recreation administration from Eastern Washington University.
