A Kirkland man died early last Sunday morning after his sport motorcycle struck a barrier near the Mercer Street exit on Interstate 5 in Seattle.

Robert C. Hong, 35, was traveling southbound on I-5 when his 2006 Suzuki GSXR600 motorcycle struck the left side barrier and came to rest in the center lane.

Authorities responding at about 1:30 a.m. pronounced him dead at the scene. A police report stated no other vehicles were involved in the crash.

Hong was wearing a helmet, but it was unknown whether drugs or alcohol were involved. The King County Medical Examiner's Office said Hong died from blunt force injuries to his head, including skull fractures and multiple cerebral lacerations.
