The blotter feature is both a description of a small selection of police incidents and a statistical round-up of all calls to the Kirkland Police Department that are dispatched to on-duty police officers. The Kirkland Reporter police blotter is not intended to be representative of all police calls originating in Kirkland, which average about 1,000 per week.

Between Jan. 10-16, the Kirkland Police Department reported 553 traffic violations, nine DUIs, 18 school zone traffic violations, two animal calls, 34 alarm calls, six noise complaints, two juvenile crimes, 11 calls of disturbance, 12 thefts, 16 car prowls, four car thefts, eight traffic accidents, nine calls of civil disturbance, two reported burglaries, six domestic violence calls, five calls for harassment, two reports of illegal drugs, six acts of fraud, five malicious mischief reports, one assault, one sex offense, one arson and three suicides. At least 34 people were arrested.

Jan. 14

Arson: 7:21 p.m., 6600 block of 108th Ave. NE. A 21-year-old man was arrested for reckless burning in the second degree after police witnessed him set a trash can on fire and dance around it. The police report noted the man is homeless, has lice and was observed wearing clothes from Big 5 that still had price tags on them.

Jan. 13

Assault: 8:45 a.m., 10600 block of NE 132nd St. A 17-year-old boy was arrested for causing a disturbance at Juanita High School and throwing rocks at school staff. The campus security officer was hit by one of the rocks. The boy has since been expelled, trespassed from the school and transferred to juvenile detention.

Jan. 10

Theft: 2:45 p.m., 10020 block of NE 137th St. A 16-year-old boy was arrested for stealing liquor from the Juanita Safeway and resisting arrest from a Redmond police officer.

Domestic violence: 1:50 a.m., 12010 120th Place NE. A 33-year-old man was taken into custody for getting into a physical altercation with his 29-year-old boyfriend. His boyfriend was taken to EvergreenHealth Medical Center for a head injury.

Jan. 12

Warrant: 10:55 a.m., 9400 block of NE 130th Place. A 28-year-old man was taken into custody on three Federal Way warrants.
