A motorcyclist is recovering from minor injuries after he was thrown from his motorcycle in a three-vehicle collision on northbound I-405 in Kirkland on Tuesday night.

Around 7:19 p.m., a driver in the right lane made an unsafe lane change and lost control of the vehicle, said Clifford Pratt, a trooper with Washington State Patrol.

The driver then struck another vehicle, which collided into the motorcycle and threw that driver from his bike, said Pratt. No drugs or alcohol were involved, he added.

The motorcyclist was transported to Harborview Medical Center where he was treated for minor injuries, including a broken arm.

The accident caused a closure of the northbound HOV lane for about 30 minutes and a traffic back-up for miles.
