Kirkland Police are investigating a vehicle collision that resulted in the death of a bicyclist on Juanita Drive Friday.

John Przychodzen, 49, of Kirkland died while he was riding his a bicycle as a truck struck from behind at approximately 3:45 p.m. in the 8600 block of N.E. Juanita Drive.

Przychodzen, who was wearing a helmet, suffered severe injuries in the accident and despite EMS efforts, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene, said Kirkland Detective Allan O’Neill. The bicyclist did not have any identification on him, but appeared to be in his 40’s or 50’s, he said.

The driver of the vehicle was an 18-year-old man and “there were no indications that the driver of the truck was impaired by drugs or alcohol,” O’Neill added.

The Kirkland Police Department Fatality Investigation Team responded to the scene to investigate the collision. Northeast Juanita Drive was closed for several hours during the investigation.
