Kirkland area schools, LWSD closed Thursday, LWTC to open at 10 a.m.

For the second day in a row the Lake Washington School District will be closed. The difference between Thursday and Wednesday is that all areas of the district received snow accumulations.
The district received phone calls from numerous parents upset that the LWSD canceled school Wednesday despite most of the area not receiving snow. But the threat was too much for the district.
The LWSD did not have that problem Thursday as some areas received nearly six inches of snow. Most areas in Kirkland received less than two inches.
There is no extended day care. All programs and activities are cancelled. There are no athletics, events or building use.
Lake Washington Technical College will open late today. A message on the school's Web site said that it will open at 10 a.m. on Thursday.
