Get ready for some snow Kirkland residents.

The National Weather Service is predicting 2-4 inches of snow will fall later today with a high around 35 degrees. More snow is expected overnight with an additional 2-4 inches possible. The overnight low is predicted to be around 27 degrees, meaning that white stuff will stick around.

Due to the weather, Lake Washington School District (LWSD) has canceled classes and activities for Wednesday.

The district has gotten several calls from residents "slamming today's decision" to cancel school, according to LWSD communications director Kathryn Reith.

But there were two inches of snow on the Sammamish Plateau early this morning "and the meteorologist we contract with forecast up to 6 inches in our district by noon," Reith said, so the district made the call to cancel today's classes and activities. Kirkland received a trace to no snow this morning.

District officials have not yet made any decisions about tomorrow's plans, Reith said.
