The blotter feature is both a description of a small selection of police incidents and a statistical round-up of all calls to the Kirkland Police Department that are dispatched to on-duty police officers. The Kirkland Reporter Police Blotter is not intended to be representative of all police calls originating in Kirkland, which average about 800 per week.

Between Oct. 24-28, the Kirkland Police Department reported 250 traffic violations (three DUIs), 12 traffic accidents, four noise complaints, eight thefts, three domestic violence calls, seven alarm calls, three motor vehicle prowls, two burglaries, five disturbances, three cases of fraud, two harassment calls and one animal control calls. At least 14 people were arrested.

Oct. 28

Burglary: 11:10 a.m., 11100 block of Kirkland Way. A business owner reported that his business had been burglarized sometime through the night. Someone entered his fenced yard and unlocked his tool shop and stole miscellaneous tools.

Order violation: 1:07 p.m., 12200 N.E. 85th Street. A 50-year-old Woodinville man was stopped on traffic violations and found to have a misdemeanor warrant for domestic violence. The man was also listed as the protected party against a woman who was sitting in the passenger seat. Both were taken into custody.

DUI: 2:30 p.m., N.E. 115th Place. A 62-year-old Kirkland man was stopped for failing to yield the right of way while turning left. The man had pulled in front of a garbage truck and was almost struck. The man failed a field sobriety test with a blood alcohol sample of .135 and was arrested for DUI.

Theft: 5:15 p.m., 10400 block of Northup Way. A 42-year-old Kirkland man was arrested for theft after he did a “dine and dash” at the Big Fish Grill. The man was issued a citation and released.

Warrant arrest: 9:50 a.m., 11500 N.E. 118th Street. A 24-year-old Mountlake Terrace man was arrested on his outstanding warrant for driving with a suspended license.

Oct. 27

DUI: 1:36 a.m., Market Street and Central Way. A 25-year-old Sammamish man was stopped for a traffic infraction and found to be DUI.

DUI: 2:16 a.m., 12400 N.E. 85th Street. A 30-year-old Redmond man was stopped on a traffic violation and found to be DUI.

Theft: 3:15 p.m., 300 block of Kirkland Ave. A 40-year-old Kirkland woman had her purse stolen while she was at the Kirkland Library. The purse was under her chair as she was at the computer.

Oct. 26

Minor, liquor violation: 11 p.m., 1100 block of N.E. 125th Lane. An 18-year-old Carnation female was involved in an argument with her on-and-off boyfriend at his apartment. The female attempted to leave a party at the residence in a car without permission while intoxicated. A friend stopped the suspect from leaving the party. The suspect made an issue of it was eventually arrested for being a minor in possession.

Oct. 24

Burglary: 8 p.m., 11600 block N.E. 101st Place. A 36-year-old Kirkland man observed the back window off his deck had been cracked and the bar-b-q near the window had been moved a couple of feet. The subject thought little of it, until he was informed by his neighbor of recent burglaries and reported it to police.
