Sail the Seven Seas with Kirkland Parks

The Kirkland Parks Department is calling all pirates, treasure hunters and families looking to get active this summer to attend its Sail the Seven Seas pirate-themed kickoff party and community information event May 31 from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the North Kirkland Community Center (12421 103rd Avenue N.E.).
Captain Bogg and Salty, a well-known Portland, Ore., pirate band, will perform from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at an event that will include free crafts, games, face painting and food.
Sail the Seven Seas is a summer-long treasure-hunting program that offers Kirklands younger residents opportunities to attend concerts, play in parks and visit local businesses during their search.

Sail the Seven Seas families will set their own course and visit designated spaces on the map to collect pirate stickers and earn prizes -- collect three stickers and receive a halfway prize; collect seven stickers and the resident pirate at North Kirkland Community Center will relinquish the final treasure. The map is also filled with ideas to keep families busy, such as organizing a neighborhood clean-up.
