Shorebird identification class offered by Eastside Audubon

The class will benefit the entire Eastside with events on April 10, 11 and 14.

Eastside Audubon Society is offering a class on shorebirds and how to identify them, taught by Master Birder, Tim Boyer.

Two evening sessions are being held 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on April 10 and 11 with an optional daylong field trip to the Washington Coast on April 14. The class will cover the 35 most likely shorebirds to be seen during spring migration. Participants will learn not only how to identify shorebirds, but also learn about how and why shorebirds migrate.

The field trip on April 14, will most likely be to Ocean Shores with a 6 a.m. departure. Participants selecting the field trip option should be prepared for an early leave time with a full day on the coast in Northwest spring time weather.

The evening class sessions are being held at Northlake Unitarian Universalist Church, 308 Fourth Ave. South in Kirkland. The cost for the class varies depending on whether the participants wish to participate in the Saturday field trip. For those selecting both evening classes and the Saturday field trip, the cost is $67 Eastside Audubon members and $80 non-members. For those only wishing just to attend the classes, the cost is $50 Eastside Audubon members and $60 non-members.

Registration is limited to 15 for the option to include the field trip, while a maximum of 20 will be enrolled for the class only option. We are sorry, but no refunds can be issued for cancellations after April 7. Online registration is available at https://eastsideaudubon.org/calendar/spring-shorebird-identification.
