Open house at Kirk elementary set for June 8

Lake Washington School District (LWSD) is “Building on Success” and will hold an open house event from 6-7:30 p.m. on June 8 at Peter Kirk Elementary School, 1312 6th St. in Kirkland.

This is part of the district’s plan to build schools and to provide quality learning environments. It is based on a set of recommendations from a community-based Long-Term Facilities Planning Task Force. An April 2016 bond measure funds the first set of recommended projects.

One of those projects is to rebuild and enlarge Kirk.

Community members are invited to join LWSD staff for an update on the project. The update reflects comments from community meetings held in March, additional work by the School Construction Input teams and suggestions made by the expert Design and Construction Advisory Team.

The meeting will feature an open house format. Attendees can view posters that show various aspects of the projects. LWSD staff, the architect and the contractor will be present to answer questions and receive feedback.

For those who are not able to attend, LWSD will have illustrations and other information posted on Kirk’s Building for Success website, at tinyurl.com/mqbhwqp by June 12.
