Greater Kirkland Citizen Corps Council seeks applicants for Brugman Grant

The Greater Kirkland Citizen Corps Council is seeking applicants for the second round of Christina E. Brugman grants. The deadline to submit applications is Oct. 10.

The grants fund projects benefitting the City of Kirkland’s emergency preparedness efforts. Applicants must show how their projects support the council’s mission “to create a resilient community by helping to coordinate the preparedness efforts of local leaders, community groups, citizen volunteers and the Kirkland Office of Emergency Management in responding to disasters of all kinds by harnessing the power of involved citizens.”

To apply, and for additional information, visit www.KirklandCERT.com and click on the Christina Brugman grant. Awards will be announced by Oct. 24, with a maximum award amount of $1,500.

Previous funding was awarded to EvergreenHealth to support the Stop the Bleed Class, for the purchase of flagging and traffic control equipment to be used by trained volunteers during emergencies and to Norkirk neighbors for emergency supplies for their disaster preparedness efforts.

Funding for the grants comes from donations raised by the Greater Kirkland Citizen Corps Council with matching funds from companies such as Microsoft, Boeing and Google.

This grant is named in honor of Christina Brugman in appreciation for her devotion to promoting emergency preparedness in Kirkland.
