EvergreenHealth to host youth mental health first aid training

EvergreenHealth and Mental Health First Aid are hosting a training workshop that will teach participants how to identify and help young people in crisis from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday at the EvergreenHealth Medical Center, 12040 N.E. 128th St., in Kirkland.

This is an eight-hour course for adults that teaches risk factors and warning signs, as well as strategies for how to help young people experiencing a mental health- or substance use-related crisis. It will also provide resources Mental Health First Aiders can turn to for help.

Mental Health First Aid USA is a nonprofit organization focused on mental health training and research and its instructors have trained more than one million people across the United States. Youth mental health first aid is especially valuable for those who regularly have contact with young people ages 12-18, including teachers, coaches, social workers and faith leaders.

This program is offered free of cost through a national grant and anyone 18 or older is invited to attend the upcoming training. Each class is limited to 30 people. To register, visit the website or call the EvergreenHealth Healthline at (425) 899-3000.
